I am reposting this article from a blog I created on Nov.9, 2007. Eversince I learned how to use the computer, my first exposures were always Microsoft-based. From MS-DOS, Windows 95, 98SE, Windows 2000 & Windows XP. All the while I thought that there are no other computer operating systems in the market aside from those provided by Microsoft. Years passed by and I just got contented with being a user of Windows-based Operating System. Buying new and expensive editions of MS Operating Systems each time a new one comes up. I used to think that when it comes to computers, it would always be Microsoft or nothing else. Probably, other people might also hold the same viewpoint.
I have heard about Linux years ago but I just thought that Linux would just be for servers and would be too costly to get hold of specially for an ordinary consumer like me. It never crossed my mind that I would be able to use any of these Linux OS in its many forms until this year.

SMEs used to spend a lot in marketing, promotions, customer support, human resources, communications & advertisements to be able to maintain their businesses. Lots of effort were exerted to perform those tasks aside from planning, delegating & implementations and much valuable time and resources were required then.

Way back in the early 90’s, virtual assistance were just for big IT companies who would like to offer online technical support and customer service. Their products were usually complex systems that they needed to provide 24/7 on-call support for their clients. This was likely so until the turn of the year 2000. Now, virtual assistance is a service that could be utilized and be taken advantage of by anyone. From ordinary tradesmen, to businessmen ranging from sales agents, real estate agents, marketing specialists and entrepreneurs from small to medium companies who would like to relegate and delegate specific tasks to a virtual administrative assistant, an HR Assistant, an executive secretary or even a sales and marketing assistant.

Asterisk is the world’s leading open source telephony engine and toolkit. Asterisk was created by Mark Spencer of Digium, Inc in 1999. Code has been contributed from open source coders around the world, and testing and bug-patches from the community have provided invaluable aid to the development of this software. However, would an ordinary consumer or businessman be able to install and comprehend how to configure it on his machine? If you are not a person who knows much about Linux codes, it would be quite too hard to figure out how to to install this into your PCs to be able utilize its features to reap the benefits that you would derive from it. Much have been written about VoIP, its advantages have been highlighted specially for home users who are already using it as their primary tool for communications. As posted in my other blog, we find Linux Ubuntu as a perfect Operating System for Virtual Assistance Business. Citing the various benefits that we could derive from using Crossloop we only found one thing that hampers full blending of Linux Ubuntu and Crossloop. We could not run Crossloop by itself as a standalone software for Ubuntu and we would need to utilize Automatrix with Wine for that. However, despite of that fact, we are so happy that we in the Virtual Assistance business could offer remote assistance to whoever clients who needs our online support through Crossloop no matter how the means would be.

It is a very simple and easy to use software that brings computers and their owners together. Crossloop was founded by Tom Rolanders, one of the pioneers of the PC Operating System, a Senior Software Developer & bestfriend of Gary Kildall, founder of Digital Research and inventor of CPM the other operating system being considered for IBM PCs.
