Achieve Organizational Efficiency for 2008A new national survey conducted by Office Depot says that achieving work-life balance tops the list of business priorities for 2008. It says that a majority of professionals surveyed (53 percent) identified improving their work-life balance as the leading business goal for 2008 and 39 percent believe getting organized will be the key to their success. You can find the full story from this link, Fox Business Story on Organizational Efficiency.

“This survey reinforces the downside to disorder - an inherent loss of productivity,” says Office Depot’s organizing expert Monica Ricci. “By implementing a few clear-cut systems and utilizing available organizational tools, professionals can manage the task of getting organized and increase their productivity. They are likely to improve their work-life balance and rediscover a passion for what they do.”

Ricci recommends the following solutions:
1. Prioritize With a Planner - Paper-based or electronic-based.
2. Filing Efficiency - Label your file folders and storage boxes to prepare documents for quick retrieval. Use a hand-held electronic labeler for this.
3. Shred for Security - Eliminate out of date or unnecessary papers, being mindful of preserving confidentiality.
4. Back-Up for a Better Tomorrow - Ricci stresses the importance of back-up solutions. At a minimum, she suggests traveling with a flash drive. She also encourages the use of portable hard drives especially for the work-at-home entrepreneurs.

Saving time and money goes hand in hand. If you can save time and become more efficient then you’ll also save money. Being more productive has always been a goal for a lot of businesses. Thankfully, new technologies and services like PDAs, CRMs, Project management softwares and virtual assistants are gaining ground and are becoming better to help us achieve this.
