Mobile VoIP - Here At Last!!!
It has been a while since I was able to write again about VoIP. My last post was (VoIP Review) about a general point of view of how VoIP would soon shape the future of communications. Right now, Mobile VoIP were released by providers such as Skype and Jajah. Cheaper alternatives for consumers and businesses who frequently uses long distance communications. Much cheaper than when using conventional telephone systems using Distance Dialling.
Skype released their 3 Skypephone, a mobile phone running over VoIP which is a stylish mobile phone that calls, texts and takes pictures like you’d expect it to; one can also use it to call and instant message their friends, free, wherever they are in the world. The only downside is that it is only available in selected countries for now. 3 Skypephone has been developed in partnership with the mobile operator 3. It’s available or coming soon in the following countries:
| United Kingdom | Available now. | |
| Australia | Available now. | |
| Italy | Available now. | |
| Hong Kong | Coming soon. | |
| Sweden | Coming soon. | |
| Denmark | Available now. | |
| Austria | Coming soon. | |
| Republic of Ireland | Available now |
Skype is on the move on its strategic path to provide cost effective mobile solutions to everyone on the planet. If right now their mobile VoIP services are still not available to your own country, chances are they are gonna be up soon.
Aside from Skype, there is also another mobile VoIP provider who utilizes existing mobile technology to be able to call over VoIP. It is a mobile VoIP called Jajah and is directly in competition with Skype on this new Mobile VoIP service. One could use Jajah by opening the mobile web browser and registering their email addresses to be able to get hold of Jajah’s Mobile VoIP services. There are more Mobile VoIP providers now in the market that offers similar services. It is up for you to select and decide what is the best for your communication needs.
What is most important is that mobile VoIP services are here at last and we consumers and businesses could take advantage of better cost effective telecommunication solutions. Mobile VoIP would reshape the way we look at telecommunications in the coming years.

Interesting stuff for the consumer - and fiannly we may be able to get our phone bills down.
How about the convergence of this with our home or business number?
So for example you can always pick up calls (for free) on your mobile, but someone has phoned your landline?
Cheers
Sam
Sam, that’d be great! A forwarding feature like that would benefit a lot of consumers indeed specially in terms of savings and productivity. That convergence would indeed be a good thing to watch out for. I saw it and my eyes are on it.
Keep me posted. Thanks for dropping by.
