SmartPhones? What are SmartPhones?

iPhones, BlackBerries, Android based phones … Lots of techno buzz on this stuff, the so called SmartPhones. Without a doubt, a lot of business people have become dependent on their mobile phones. We’ll what do you know, smart phones are the mobile phones “in fashion” lately.

Keeping up with the speed of opportunities in business, executives, sales people and anyone in business are sporting the newest toy the technology companies are offering. It’s not only addictive as a crackberry friend of mine would like to put it. It’s a necessity. It’s a good networking tool. A good way to break the ice with that nerdy executive cum potential client. Heck, it’s even cool. Just look at how many “fashionable” young men and women are wearing them.

What are SmartPhones? Simply put, these are all-in-one handsets that contains many functions. In addition to its communication feature, most have email, camera, internet, PDA and even GPS navigation, just to name a few. These phones are fast replacing a multitude of other devices and are starting to provide integrated enterprise and productivity application. Soon, it will be the new computer in a very tiny package. Lots of applications are currently being built for this platform.

Handset cost of smartphones are generally going down but still the high price of monthly plans stinks. Data plans are still quite expensive and still has to go down in order for smartphones to become widely used. Consumers are not quite into it. Can small business afford giving away smartphones to its employees? Again, the answer would probably be based on its value.

I’d like to get an iPhone. I’m just waiting to get a good deal. 8-)

So when you get your I Phone can you tell us what you think is better – the Blackberry or the IPhone.

I have an IPhone and i love it. The additional applications are simply amazing. However the Blackberry may just pip it when it comes down to business usage. What do you think?
