VoIP Fixed Mobile Convergence Solution for the UK!
This is a breaking news in VoIP for consumers and businesses who would like to save a lot on communications. I posted the entire news article here so that everyone could read it. This is currently available in the UK and I am hoping that Voicenet Solutions would make this fixed mobile convergence solution available everywhere. It is always good to have calls to our fixed business landlines be forwarded to our mobile phones using our business VoIP network. We may no longer have to give out our mobile numbers but instead just our fixed landlines since calls would be forwarded to our mobile. Right now, we understand the infancy of these technologies but we are hoping that soon these would be available everywhere not only in the UK but also to the rest of the world. We pray that Voicenet Solutions hear us on this one.
VoIP News: VoIP service provider launches fixed mobile convergence solution ( 2008-02-04 )
Voicenet Solutions launches UK’s first end-to-end fixed-mobile convergence solution, which will significantly cut mobile bills and increase connectivity of remote working. It also means you may never need to give out your mobile number again.
Voicenet Solutions, the leading hosted VoIP provider, today announced the launch of VNi Mobile, the first business grade Fixed Mobile Convergence solution for the UK. This solution will enable users to make and receive business calls on their mobile, anywhere in the country, over their business’s VoIP network which will significantly reduce costs.
This is supported by recent research (by Analysis) which states that companies are spending 80% of their telecom bills on mobile services and a quality FMC solution could save businesses 30% on calls.
VNi Mobile is a highly scalable solution that will offer business users the accessibility of mobiles with the cost efficiencies of hosted VoIP.
Highlights
• Unifies mobile and desktop phones
• Need never give out a mobile number again
• Use mobile phone over the business’ telephone network
• Provider to recommend, source and manage WiFi and VoIP network
• Significantly cuts business call costs
• Even easier to work from home
• Increases employee connectivity and communication
• Customers will be able to bring their own phones and even business calls via other high speed WiFi access points
• All for a standard seat cost
VNi Mobile works by using VoIP compatible GSM Nokia handsets (E61 and E65) via WiFi access points over a hosted VoIP network – all supplied by Voicenet Solutions. Calls will be guaranteed within workspaces as each site will have built-in QoS facilities. The dual Nokia handset can be used instead of the desk phone and every handset will offer the PPM features available on the Voicenet Solutions platform such as click to call, forward transfer etc.
“The technology has been around for a couple of years, but to my knowledge we are the first providers to offer an end-to-end fixed mobile convergence solution capable of making and receiving business grade calls via a hosted VoIP network on a mobile phone”, said David Crombie, CEO Voicenet Solutions.
“Any business user with a mobile phone can benefit. It offers substantial savings on mobile calls with greater connectivity and communication for the entire workforce. It could shape the way we use office telephony for years to come. We’ve estimated that for an employee to have VNi Mobile would cost no more than a normal seat charge and the cost of the wireless access point could be a rapid return of investment”, added David Crombie
Scenario - example
Without VNi Mobile
A construction firm is working at a new building site in Colchester. To receive calls they install a PBX and 3 analogue handsets. Calls to their HQ in London are charged at a local rate. When a worker leaves the office and walks around the building site, he has to be called on his mobile. For the worker to speak to his foreman at the same building site, he has to pay the mobile rate for the call. Hundreds of calls can be made like this, with other workers, throughout the day.
With VNi Mobile
The construction firm installs a WiFi access point alongside their office internet connection and 3 VNi Mobile lines on the Voicenet Solutions hosted VoIP platform. Calls to their London HQ are free. When a worker with VNi Mobile leaves the office and walks around the building site, he is called on his office extension line, which is his Nokia mobile, this call is free. For the worker to speak to his foreman at the same building site, he simply dials the four digit extension on his mobile, but via the VNi Mobile VoIP network, and that call is free.
When a user moves out of the WiFi zone they can make mobile calls as normal, but can still pick up calls forwarded from the Voicenet Solutions network. When they re-enter a zone they can go back to making VoIP calls on their mobile.
What is unified voice communications?
Unified voice communications is a technology that simplifies a business user’s ability to communicate with one device instead of multiple handsets, be it at home, at work or roaming. With the advent VoIP and accessible WiFi there has been a drive for a cost-effective, reliable unified communications solution allowing individuals to make business calls on their mobiles via their office network.

Trex great comments, thanks - and i am very glad you saw the release and like the product.
We do hear you.
Voicenet Solutions are launching this product in the UK but are getting more clients throughout europe. But if anyone wants this outside Europe - then get in touch.
It is a technology in its infancy, but we really feel we have all possible issues covered. So say goodbye to your mobile number. Eventually, we will want to realise the possibility of someone being called on their office number, wherever the person is in the world. Cutting costs considerably to both parties.
If you want to find out more check out the UK VoIP provider
Thanks a lot
